World Wildlife Day 2020: Sustaining All Life on Earth

World Wildlife Day 2020: Sustaining All Life on Earth

Today in the year 2013, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) proclaimed March 3 as World Wildlife Day to commemorate and boost awareness of wild animals and plants in the world. Since then, this celebration has become the most vital global event devoted to and honoring wildlife annually.

This 2020, the World Wildlife Day celebration has the theme of “Sustaining All Life on Earth;” thus, focuses on all wild and endangered animals and plants on the planet that serve as key factors in the world’s biodiversity.

This year’s commemoration supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs)’s 1, 12, 14, and 15:

  • Goal 1. No Poverty
  • Goal 12. Responsible Consumption and Production
  • Goal 14. Life Below Water
  • Goal 15. Life on Land

Thus, World Wildlife Day is committed to alleviating poverty, ensuring the sustainability of resources and its consumption, safeguarding and conserving the life of the living on land and below water to cease and ease the loss of biodiversity.

As we pay tribute to the wildlife today, we hope that we keep in mind the importance of these species to create Earth a better place. They, too, have a special part in maintaining sustainability and life on our planet. Let us join hands in raising awareness and sustainable efforts to conserve wildlife and let us work on to halt the perils to these beautiful species.

Let’s move to #SustainaingAllLifeOnEarth.
