Homemade Disinfectant Using Natural Products

Homemade Disinfectant Using Natural Products

In these unprecedented times, we shall take extra precautions to disinfect and sanitize our areas especially if we continue to work or go out to purchase basic necessities. Moreover, we also want to save and spend less money as possible as it is still uncertain when we can go back to full-time work or resume our businesses.

A disinfectant seems to be a necessary tool, not just today but always. If you cannot find some solutions in the market due to lack of supplies, try exploring what you have at home. At Happy Shift HQ, we found some supplies of Baking Soda and Calamansi Fruits that we used to make for our all-time best-selling soap, Calamansi Soap with Baking Soda. Using these ingredients, you can come up with your natural disinfectant, too.

What You'll Need:

4 cups (950 ml) hot water
1/4 cup (59 ml) white vinegar
2 tablespoons (28.8 g) baking soda
5 to 8 pieces calamansi fruits

2 bowls or canisters to mix all and strain ingredients
Strainer
Empty spray bottle

Steps:

  1. In a hot water, mix white vinegar and baking soda and wait for the latter to be dissolved.
  2. Once the solution is ready, cut the calamansi fruits in half and squeeze it all into the solution.
  3. Wait for it to cool.
  4. Once the solution has cool, use a strainer to filter calamansi fruit pulps and seeds; and finally
  5. Transfer the solution to the spray bottle.

How to Use:

Spray the solution to the area you wanted to clean or disinfect. Let the solution sit for around ten (10) minutes before you wipe it with a clean cloth.

Notes:
Vinegar, baking soda, and calamansi are not the cure for COVID-19. They can only serve as an alternative and all-natural disinfectant to use at home and office to ensure cleanliness and good sanitation to prevent the virus.
